The final event of the season is only a few weeks away, and we want to go out with a bang. We have already been working on a great spread of awards and prizes for our series competitors in celebration of the 2016 season, but felt like we wanted to do something special to really attract some new racers as well as reward our existing ones. What we have come up with is a new class that will be added at our final race in Shawano, WI; Senior Pro will follow all the same rules of our existing senior classes, but race at 370 pounds. This race will have a cash payout! For the first time in the history of […]

Exciting News for Round 3

Round 3 of the Briggs and Stratton 206 Cup is rapidly approaching, and we have some great news that should make this the best round of the 2016 season so far! First off, Vega and TS Racing have stepped up to the plate again, and has offered an additional sponsorship specifically for the races at CHMS! We will have special prizes and Awards for the entire weekend directly from Vega and TS Racing! Secondly, in an effort to get increased participation from local racers, we have worked with a few key sponsors and CHMS to develop a new program that gives these folks the opportunity to get a taste of the 206 Cup experience without having to buy tires, change […]

Special Announcement for Animal Racers!

Even though our series in centered around the 206 classes, the Animal racers are equally important. The Briggs Animal classes provide great racing and a potential “next step” for the 206 driver that wants some more speed. With that in mind, we have been talking with key players in the Animal racing world to try and bolster our numbers in the class. First off, our Animal classes will only race for championship points at three of our events this season. Road America in Elkhart Lake, CHMS in Norway and USAir in Shawano will be the only races that the Animal classes will be scored. As this reduces the number of points days that are available, there will be no drops […]

The 2016 Rules Have Been Released!

A new year rings in today, and so does the latest version of the 206 Cup rules! There were some significant changes made to the rule book for the 2016 season. Along side the new class structures that were announced a few weeks ago, notable changes have been made in regards to event formatting, tires, and bodywork. All events in the 2016 season will follow a new format. We have developed a new format that adds a qualifying round to the start of each race day. This does not mean less racing for our racers though, there will still be 2 heats and a feature race every day. However how those racers transfer from one race to the next is […]

On Set of Rules Across The Entire USA? It May Be Becoming A Reality!

First off, we’d like to wish everybody reading this a Merry Christmas! Although it is a holiday, we wanted to let everybody in on some exciting news. We have been working for the last few months with different series and clubs around the country to try and align all of our groups to the same set of rules. For far too long, differences in rulebooks made it difficult for racers to travel to other regions. It was confusing to racers why things were different, and often far too costly to make their equipment compliant on top of the unavoidable costs of traveling to these new races. Because of the tremendous success of our 2015 rulebook, we are extremely proud to […]

206 Cup Announces It’s 2016 Schedule and Class Structure

2016 Race Schedule The wait is over. The Briggs and Stratton 206 Cup 2016 schedule has been released. As you will see, the 206 Cup is returning to 3 of the facilities that it visited last year. Dousman WI, Shawano WI and Norway IL will again host rounds of the 206 Cup in 2016. We are also excited to announce a brand new track to our series, Delmar IA’s 61 Kartway as well as our return to track that hosted the first ever 206 Cup race; Elkhart Lake’s Road America Motorplex. All 5 tracks will be hosting optional friday practices as well the day before our races. Sadly, this means that our series will not be returning to Eau Claire’s […]

RIGP Champion Tony Neilson Gives Back To The 206 Racers!

Although we did not do a very good job of promoting it, the 206 Cup awarded each RIGP class winner in either a 206 class or the Margay Ignite Shootout free entry to our final round or racing in Shawano. What we didn’t expect was for one driver to sweep 4 of those 5 classes! Tony Neilson of 61 Kartway reached out to me today, and asked if he could donate his entry to a worthy competitor that might want to visit the epic track that is USAir Motorsports. Tony won’t be able to make the event himself, but wanted to help somebody else make the race. So, we will be giving away two entries for the entire weekend in […]

Letter to All 206 Cup Racers From Series Organizers

As we have now reached the mid-point in our 2015 season, we wanted to reach out directly to all of our racers in regards to things that have happened so far this year, both good and bad. In general we feel the first two events have been successful, but by no means perfect. As the second half of the series is only a few weeks away, we have identified some things that we want to adjust, clarify or restate to continue to improve on the racing as a whole. Rough Driving / Contact on the race track: First and foremost, I would like to discuss contact during races. For the most part, racing has been very good and drivers have […]

You Asked, We Delivered! A New Format For The Remaining 206 Cup Season!

There are many formats that have been used for kart racing over the years. We initially choose the traditional “Moto” format, as we felt it best fit the type of racing we wanted to foster. We wanted our winners no only to be fast drivers, but also somebody capable of passing. And although we still feel the “Moto” format is the best suited for club style racing, this is not a club. It is a competitive karting series that club racers can afford. After bouncing ideas off of many other series organizers in karting as well as other forms of motorsport, we have designed our own racing format that we think provides the best fit to our series. Download the […]
