First off, Grand Nationals 3 was a HUGE success. It truly became one of those events that had a little bit of everything. For example, the first race of 2019 that had to be ran on rain tires was at the Grands! But even with the large temperature swings, rain, wind and everything else that happens on a race weekend; our racers remained determined and it showed. GN3 had some of the fiercest competition we have ever seen.
What’s more, we blew past every goal we had set for the event by welcoming 286 total entries. To all the competitors that made the trip to join us in making this the largest 4-cycle karting event in years, THANK YOU! It was a truly special weekend for us.
So now that 2019 is officially in the books for CKNA, it’s on to preparing for 2020. We’re pumped for what the new year will bring for the series and our racers. Coming off GN3, we’ve been inundated with messages from racers asking about following our points series in 2020, companies looking to join as sponsors and tracks hoping to host a CKNA event in 2020.
Our first order of business will be to publish our schedule ASAP. There are a lot of variables to consider in 2020, so we want to make sure we get it right for as many of our faithful competitors as we can. Also, with the opportunity to add a few really great tracks to the 2020 schedule we want to make sure we talk to each one of them so we can put together the best schedule yet!
We can tell you the date for what is shaping up to be 2020’s biggest 4-cycle race, Grand Nationals 4 has been set. We will once again return to New Castle Motorsports Park October 2nd – 4th, 2020! Circle it on your calendars, take the time off work and tell your local tracks. Everybody is going to be there, and so should you!
There have been some rumors about class structure changes potentially coming in 2020. As of right now, we can announce that we are officially adding CIK Heavy to the lineup for next season. It was one of the most highly contested classes at GN3 and will be a great addition to our regular line-up. As far as changes or adjustments to other classes, we are still evaluating some options and ideas. Our intention is to have any additional changes announced before the first of the year.
All in all, 2019 was the biggest year yet for CKNA. Our points series saw great growth with every race blowing past the previous year’s entry count. The Grands truly was the biggest 4-cycle race in North America, featuring the closest competition we’ve ever had. And along the way, we met a ton of new families that we are proud to now call our friends.
It’s going to be tough to top 2019. But with the support of our faithful sponsors and competitors, we know that we will all make 2020 the biggest year ever!
