2025 Rules Released

As we always do, CKNA has updated the rule book for 2025. And while there are no major changes, we do highly recommend that you download the latest version from our RULES PAGE and familiarize yourself with them.

Below you will find a list of the most noteworthy changes. Some are items that we had individually listed in event supplemental rules all last season, and others are items we wanted to address moving forward.

These are the rules that will be in effect for the upcoming Spring Nationals.

Noteworthy changes:

  • Updated dates for Snell 2015 Helmets:  You got one more year! We received confirmation late last week the our insurance carrier (NKA) has extended the life-cycle of the 2015 helmets. But if you still have a 2015, we recommend you start shopping now!
  • Driver Competition Age:  For 2025, this should not effect anybody as we just wrote the rule in what we hope is an easier to understand way. We will be changing how a drivers competition age will be determined in 2026 moving forward.
  • Transponder Location:  Transponders will now be mounted to the back of the seat, which aligns the placement with the majority of the other series out there. We hope this is easier for everybody in the long run, and eliminate some timing and scoring issues throughout the year.
  • Addition of the “Driving Standards” section:  We created this section in the rules to house the various descriptions and expectations for driving standards on the track. There are a few new things in there, and we intend to add to it later in the year.
  • Ballast Labeling:  CKNA will be requiring AND enforcing the rule to have your ballast labeled. A specific penalty has been added per piece of ballast not labeled.
  • Lost Components:  This is something we started seriously last year. And as it is so important, we have decided to increase the severity of the penalties. So PLEASE make sure your stuff is tight.
  • Finish under Official Review:  Language has been added that permits officials to clear the scales while the race director and marshals are deliberating a call. We hope this prevents hold-ups at the scales.
  • All races are driver option for tire:  Far too often, people are waiting on us to make a decision on impending weather. Rather than leave this up to the officials, we will simply have all races begin under driver option. If needed, the Race Director still can call for mandatory rains.
  • Engine Rule updates:
    • Spark pugs will now be marked by tech, and may not be changed during an event unless under the supervision of tech officials.
    • Additional language added explaining the piston pop-up and camshaft check procedure so everybody understands the expectations.
  • Kid Kart Clutch and Gearing:  We have now specified the Briggs and MaxTorque part numbers for KidKart clutch to eliminate confusion.
    • After much consideration, we have decided not to continue to allow the #219 gear package we tested at Jacksonville. Adding the extra variable for families just starting in the sport just dosen’t make sense in the long run.

Again, we advise you to all download the FREE RULES and read them for yourself. These aren’t all the changes, just the most noteworthy ones!
