Statement from CKNA owner post GN9

Dear CKNA family, Thank you to everybody that attended Grand Nationals 9. Over 540 entries competed together on the same weekend, with the same engine. For most, it was an enjoyable weekend of racing with family and friends. However, I know that some left the track with a bad experience, and I feel it necessary to write an open letter to everybody regarding some of the controversy surrounding a few of the finishes at Grand Nationals 9. First and foremost, we fell short of the standard that CKNA has held for itself over the last 10+ years. The majority of the attendees had a great time racing against the best 4-cycle racers in North America and beyond. Our staff gave

Tire rules clarification for our Canadian competitors

Although this does apply to all competitors, it mostly effects our brothers and sisters from the North coming to race with us in the USA. VEGA tires with ANY additional branding on them from their importer/dealer (ONT, KK, etc..) are not permitted for use at Grand Nationals 9. This includes rain tires. The availability for extra rain tires will be very limited at the track, so if you need a set of tires that are legal for competition, we highly recommend that you pre-order them. If you already registered, please send an email to info@cupkarts.com and we will add a set to your order. You will be required to log back into race select to pay for them prior to

Penalty Points Update

As most of our racers know, a new Penalty points system was introduced at Summer Nationals 2025. And while the majority of our supporters welcomed the new system, some expressed concerns with specifics in the rules, and how points are being allocated. A handful of racers have reached out to the CKNA staff to express these concerns, offering additional ideas or tweaks to make the system work better. Thank you to all that took the time to reach out and have calm, reasoned discussions with us. In the majority of the feedback, there were two consistent themes: Updated Penalty Points System PDF Multiple class runners: Many comments we received said that we are unfairly holding drivers running multiple classes to

Summer Nationals After Action Report

Thank you to all that came to Summer Nats and supported the event. Our staff did an amazing job officiating the race and implementing the new penalty points system. While we will be making some tweaks to the entire process in the coming days, we believe we are heading in the right direction based on the feedback we’ve already received from competitors. As a part of our commitment to fostering a fair and family-friendly racing environment for all our competitors, CKNA will at times take additional steps after an event to ensure that these standards are upheld. We intentionally do this after an event, so all the officials involved have time to confer, ensuring we are as fair and consistent

New CKNA Penalty Points System

Effective immediately, CKNA will be starting implementing a new Penalty Points System. CKNA runs a lot of races each year. That also means that we have different sets of officials that work each event. One of the downsides to that is that it can be very difficult to track a drivers penalty history and ensure that somebody whom is consistently finding their name up in lights on the penalty board may not get the additional consequences that we believe a habitual offender should receive. We are committed to doing everything in our power to provide our customers a safe and fair racing environment every time they attend one of our events. Thanks to the hard work of our staff and

CKNA East Schedule Release

Well after all the fun getting the North Division’s schedule hammered out, we’re very happy to say that the East schedule is done and confirmed! We held off on releasing it just in case we had to make drastic changes in our other divisions, but thankfully we have gotten everything lined up with no conflicts with any of our other events! We really wanted to change things up a bit in the East for 2025. We are firm believers in rotating tracks through our schedule to keep things fresh as well as to support more facilities in the region. East this year will be featuring two new tracks to CKNA. One historic track that is under new ownership and making

Provisional Amendment to Kid Kart Rules

#219 Chain for Kid Karts Since it’s inception, Kid Karts have been required to run #35 size chain with a specified 17 tooth driver and a 57 tooth gear. Eliminating the gearing from the equation allows the parents and drivers to focus on the basics of driving and we believe it is the best thing for drivers so early in their racing careers. A few weeks ago, it was brought to our attention that there are some newer chassis on the market that the 57T #35 rear sprocket will not clear the crossbar on the chassis. Unfortunately, the way this was discovered was that families getting into the sport had bought them not knowing of the fitment issue. As the
