CupKarts North R1 is just around the corner

It seems like only yesterday that we we’re gridding up for the first race at Charlotte Motor Speedway at the Spring Nationals. But weeks have passed, and we are now close to kicking off the CupKarts North Division! Thanks to the continued support of EK Chains and new sponsor AEM Karting who are sharing the Divisional Presenting sponsor duties this year, it looks lie this will be the biggest year to date! Our first race will be held at a track familiar to opening the CKNA regular season, Concept Haulers Motor Speedway in Sheridan, IL. Mark Enderlein officially joins CKNA

We’re pleased to announce the newest addition to the Cup Karts North America staff, Mark Enderlein! Mark will be serving as CKNA’s official Race Director for the Cup Karts North Division, as well as working side by side with Glen Firing at the Spring Nationals! Mark is no stranger to karting. As the owner of River Lake racing, he served the karting community for over 30 years. Mark raced in nearly every category of karting including Flat Heads, KT100’s, TAG and 206. Tire Rule Clarifications

It seems there has been some confusion brought to light lately regarding CKNA’s rules for Tires at the Divisional and National Level. Rather than quote passages from our rulebook, we’ll lay it out here! Cup Karts South & North Divisions Slick tires will be Vega VAH, and Rain Tires can be either Vega w5 or 56 compounds. No other tires will be permitted in any session throughout the entire weekend. You do not need to qualify on new tires. Many of our racers choose to get multiple racedays out of the Vega tire because it performs well even after multiple heat cycles. IT IS YOUR CHOICE! Registration and Number Reservations are now open!

That’s right! You can now reserve your number for any CKNA events in 2021! With two separate divisions and a pair of National races this year, we are handling number reservations a bit differently this year. There will be 3 separate number pools: Cup Karts North Division Cup karts South Division CKNA Nationals When you reserve a number in either of the divisional pools, you will be asked if you would also like to reserve that number for the National pool as well. AEM Karting joins CKNA

2020 was a great year of competition at Cup Karts North. The series saw countless new faces join the fray, many of which saw great success in just their first CKNA campaign. One driver who achieved an unprecedented result in becoming the first driver in CKNA history to win two championships in the same season was Mick Gabriel; 2020’s Cup Karts North Senior Light and Senior Medium Champion. Mick, along with his father Mike are moving forward from being top-level privateers to creating a top-level race team, race school and arrive-and-drive program with best-in-class equipment, instruction and technology. Thank you for your patience while we hammered out the 2021 schedule. With all the obstacles from 2020 and potential bumps in the road for 2021, we wanted to take our time and make sure we put together the most entertaining schedule for our racers with the best probabilities of running as planned for the coming season. The time has come for the transition towards CIK only… After the dust settles each season , we take a deep dive into the data from each of our events as well as events from the surrounding areas. We look for trends in each individual class as well as the multiple areas we draw from to help us decide if we need to adjust anything for the upcoming season.
