Grand Nationals 4

Added qualifying session for late arrivals

Even though the rumor mill had been churning for quite some time regarding us moving to a Friday Qualifying format in 2020, the announcement caught some people off guard. Unexpectedly, this meant that a handful of people were put into a position where they may not be able to attend. There have been a few people that have reached out to tell us that for a multitude of reasons, taking the extra day off of work was not an option. Quite a few of them sited the Corona Virus restrictions at work, in which their employers had blocked off any additional days off requests. Given these crazy times, we wanted to figure out a way to make sure that these

Class adjustment for GN4

In an earlier press release, we announced the addition of an Ignite class to the Grand Nationals 4 schedule. We regret to inform everybody that the decision has been made to remove the class from the event. We have received many requests over the years to add this class to the largest 4-cycle only event of the season. This year’s schedule volatility due the Corona virus pandemic caused many events to be canceled, including events that a number of these racers planned to attend. Knowing that the racers for this class had far fewer opportunities to run large events in 2020, we added the class. We felt we had the room to accommodate them due to the adjustment in our

GN4 Class announcement and Schedule Change

We are just over a month away from the 4th running of Cup Karts North America’s Grand Nationals, and it’s time to start laying out the event structure and format for 2020. Each year, the event has evolved from the previous based on feedback from our officials and racers. Based on the feedback, we will run Qualifying on Friday this year, after practice concludes. This will allow us the flexibility in the schedule needed to accommodate more racers, split large classes and deal with weather delays if they occur. Here is a general outline of the weekends activities: Thursday –  Move in day (Registration, Pre-Tech and Tire Pickup open) Friday –  Practice Rounds and Qualifying (Registration, Pre-Tech and Tire Pickup

There’s quite a bit to talk about as the 2020 season starts to wind down. So here’s an update about all things CKNA:. First and foremost, we’ve had quite a few inquiries about the well being of the Junior driver that was injured in Sunday’s feature race. We are happy to say he is home and doing well! He had a follow up visit with his regular physician that also went very well, and we hope to see the entire family back at the track very soon! The 2020 season is already winding down, and we have just opened registration for our final Champions Cup Divisional race at Road America in Elkart Lake, WI! This will be the first time

Last Chance in 2020 for Senior Open

When CKNA started all those years ago, we developed the rulebook to mix the traditional 4-stroke bodywork with the more modern CIK style. It worked well, and we had great events everywhere we went. As the CIK bodywork became more prevalent, we added CIK specific classes to accommodate the racers that preferred not to race against the other style bodywork for a variety of reasons. As the years have passed, many of the racers have changed over to CIK, and the number of traditional bodywork karts have dwindled. Still, we promised that we would have a place for these racers to race so long as they kept coming. Fast forward today, we had to cancel the first class in CKNA

We hear you!!! Changes to classes and schedule for NCMP

Over the past week, we had heard some concerns about the race length’s at NCMP this coming weekend. Although these races were the same in estimated time on track, there were racers that did not like having heat races of only 5 laps. We quickly tried to gauge how many racers felt this way snd sent out a survey to our database: As you can see, in typical CupKarts fashion, it was perfectly split on opinions. So while racking our brains to come up with a solution that didn’t have us racing until 8pm each day, we received an email from one of our competitors who had an idea. She noted that the class she usually competes in (Senior Open)

Race 3 announcement! Our schedule is now complete!

After gutting our schedule due to the Corona Virus, our revised announcement only set 3 dates for the 2020 Champions Cup season. As we had always said, we felt strongly that we needed a minimum of 4 races to continue to allow racers drops in the Championship Standings. This meant we needed to find a 4th race to squeeze into 2020. Admittedly, we were concerned it wouldn’t fit into the available weekends remaining in 2020. We have always done our best to work with other Midwest series and events to ensure racers wouldn’t have to choose between us and another race. We have also strove to allow enough off weekends between events to allow people time to recover from a

CKNA Releases it’s revised 2020 Schedule

What can be said that hasn’t already been said about the Corona Virus Pandemic? It’s effects have been felt by everybody in our country, including our fellow kart racers. We hope that you and your loved ones are safe and getting by in these troubling times. Karting has been all but shut down for the past 2 months, and for us since Grand Nationals last October. There’s no surprise that determining when the right time to get back to normal has become the most polarizing topic in the news, social media and among our fellow racers. Furthermore, the different policies in each state has made determining the where just as difficult as the when part of the equation. Our opening

Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone during these unsettling times. We all are looking forward to returning to normal as soon as possible. However, we regretfully are writing this letter to inform you that the second round of the 2020 CKNA Champions Cup season has been postponed. As some
