2020 CKNA Spring Nationals Postponed

We have been holding out hope that the risk would subside in time for us to run the 2020 Spring Nationals as planned. However, given the multiple “Stay at Home” and “Social Distancing” orders around the country which are now being extended beyond the Whiteland Race Weekend, we feel it is prudent to POSTPONE the 2020 Spring Nationals. The safety of our racers, crews and officials far outweighs all of our shared desire to get back to racing. We held out making this decision as long as we could, hoping for the best. But as we promised to give everybody plenty of notice if this became necessary, the decision had to be made. We are not setting the new date

CKNA Covid-19 update:

Dear friends: First and foremost, we hope everybody is healthy and weathering this unprecedented storm. There have been quite a few inquiries lately about what the Corona virus’s effect will be on the 2020 CKNA schedule, especially the Spring Nationals at Whiteland. Racers want to know if we are still planning on holding the race. We have been in regular contact with Whiteland Raceway Park as well as staying up to date on all preventative measures in place in Indiana to help determine what we need to do. At this point, it is honestly too soon to tell if we will be able to hold the race. The safety of our racers, their families and our staff is the main

2020 CKNA rules now available

We have released version 20.0 of the CKNA rules. We ask that all of our racers download a FREE COPY and review all of the changes. To make life simple, any changes are in red print. Download the 2020 rules here! Here is a list of the most major changes that we feel should be highlighted: Conduct: This section has been added to our rules, to spell out how the series expects it’s participants to behave on a race weekend and online. It’s important to note, this was not added because we had a problem that needed to be addressed. But as the series hosting larger and larger events each year, it is important to provide this guideline to help

Changes to Friday Practices

We’re always striving to make our events better. Over the years, we have adjusted scheduling, classes and rules to provide safer and more enjoyable events but have never really tweaked our optional Friday practices. We received numerous requests throughout 2019 to become more involved with running and enforcing our rules on Friday practices. Parents expressed to us that unsafe driving was taking place as well as people practicing out of class. The effect of all this is that people who had a negative experience on Friday had the tone set for a bad weekend all around. Nobody wants to bend an axle on a practice day, and rightfully so. We saw things happen a few times towards the end of

CKNA and Vega extend their partnership

We’re pleased to announce that Cup Karts North America and Vega Tires have reached an agreement to extend the use of their tires exclusively at CKNA events through 2023! “Vega is one of our major sponsors, but we have learned to look at them as partners in the series. They offer support far beyond writing us a check each year. They have helped us in many more aspects that you wouldn’t expect from a tire company.   We truly feel the VAH that we co-developed with Vega is the best tire CKNA could have asked for. First off, it flat-out performs. Even with the wide variety of chassis types we see at our events, the tires just work. We break

Junior Weight Adjustment

Following our adjustment to the Kids Kart weights, we received numerous requests to re-evaluate the decision to lower the minimum weight. The decision to lower the weight on the Junior class was made to try and reduce the amount of ballast competitors had to run to meet the minimum weight. Nobody likes lifting a kart with 40+ pounds of lead bolted on, and we hoped to save on a few peoples backs. Also, the less lead going around the track minimizes the chances of a piece of lead coming off the kart and potentially harming a driver Based on the opinions of the majority of the responses we got, we have decided to reverse this decision and revert to the

Kid Kart Weight Update

A few days ago, we announced the 2020 class structure. Part of that announcement was weight adjustments for a few classes. Shortly there after, we received a few messages from Kid Kart parents asking us to further investigate the base weight of the Kid Kart class. An email was sent to all competitors from our last event in 2019 to get more data. Since it is still early enough, we wanted to make sure we did due diligence to evaluate the class minimum weights and make sure they are representative of tracks in our region AND the racers at our events. Two things became evidently clear. First, there is very little consistency in how local tracks are structuring their Kid

2020 is right around the corner…

First off, Grand Nationals 3 was a HUGE success. It truly became one of those events that had a little bit of everything. For example, the first race of 2019 that had to be ran on rain tires was at the Grands! But even with the large temperature swings, rain, wind and everything else that happens on a race weekend; our racers remained determined and it showed. GN3 had some of the fiercest competition we have ever seen. What’s more, we blew past every goal we had set for the event by welcoming 286 total entries. To all the competitors that made the trip to join us in making this the largest 4-cycle karting event in years, THANK YOU! It
